When we step out of a Canadian winter into a toasty room, we usually don't think much about all that went into getting that room warm for us — from the fuel or power source, to its transmission to our homes and buildings, to the technology we use to convert that source into heat and distribute it throughout our rooms. Same goes for when we flick a light switch or turn the key in an ignition.
