At the Sooke Harbour House Restaurant they serve local, organic and wild food. All salad greens and herbs are grown in their own organic gardens. They have an edible landscape of over 200 herbs, greens, edible flowers and vegetables. Much of their kitchen plant waste is composted. Other environmentally noteworthy information about their Inn include their water conservation efforts with efficient shower nozzles and low flush toilets in some rooms; their water reclamation system - water from showers, sinks and toilets is reclaimed, treated and reused in toilets, urinals and lawn irrigation; their green parking lot - they use grass turf pressed into a plastic grid to create a more eco friendly parking area; cleaning products are as natural as can be - they use citric acid, rhubarb and vegetable based cleaning products and vinegar; they have a comprehensive reduce, reuse and recycle program; 50% of their rooms have efficient in-floor heating.
