The Canadian Institute of Planners represents about 7,000 Planning professionals who honor and strive toward responsible Community planning in rural, suburban and urban areas across Canada. With more of Canada’s population moving toward urban areas, the focus is often on responsible urbanisation that concentrates on social efficiency, economics, health and sustainability.
Some topics that we are concerned with include building urban areas while minimising the impact on natural habitats, maintaining natural resources, developing clean transportation options, protecting the environment and honoring the local and cultural heritages in various areas.
As Canada moves toward increasing urbanisation of some its rural areas and small towns, the Canadian Institute of Planners wants to ensure that the environment is protected and that we are proceeding in a Socially Responsible way.
